Conclusions: In an updated meta-analysis of RCTs, vitamin D supplementation significantly reduced total cancer mortality but did not reduce total cancer incidence.
Συμπέρασμα ??? Την δίνουμε σε καρκινοπαθείς για να βελτιώσουμε τη θνητότητα;

Ask the wrong question, get the wrong answer. A 25-OH D3 level of 40ng/mL IS NOT necessarily adequate. Many thoughtful and science-based physician believe that the proper, necessary, and sufficient level of 25-OH D3 is 50-66 ng/mL and so conclusions canNOT be drawn at a level of 40. It is much like a stuck door, one has to push hard enough (achieving that level of 50-66) to open it: less will not do. Moreover, no experienced physician gives ONLY 1 gram of FISH OIL: the proper dose is 5-15,000 mg (1-3 teaspoons distilled) fish oil. At best, it should be stated with humility that the desired effects were not noted at the 25-OH D3 levels obtained. Moreover, recent studies have shown that there is not increase in toxicity when a level of 50 ng/mL is achieved. The IOM gets it wrong, in my best guess. HRS, MD, FACC

In an unselected older population, the answer appears to be “no.”
