Polycythaemia (rubra) vera – I have polycythaemia (rubra) vera. Can I donate?
Polycythaemia (rubra) vera is a disease of the bone marrow which causes over-production of red blood cells. One of the treatments for this condition is regular therapeutic removal of blood (called ‘venesection’), for which your doctor may have even referred you to Lifeblood.
Unfortunately, although we may be able to collect your blood for your health, it can’t be given to patients.
